How to Outsource the Life-cycle Support within a Program - Keys for Success

Display the Slides

Outsourcing is a very common and easily understanding word; the extensive use within the management area came from the computerisation business firstly, then conforted by the so-called global market views

Anyhow, the fact is that the international division of work has been very early and, in any case, no later than at the end of the 18th century, identified as one major factor for the growth of the wealth of Nations

The fact is also that the efficient outsourcing strongly depends on the economic context of the time and on the technological state-of-the-art

Very schematically, we can say that the factories of the 16th century used external resources within their geographical areas largely, due mainly to the dissemination of the production of hydraulical energy along rivers and rivulets.

Then, with the arising of the use of steam and then of electricity, factories became more and more concentrated (and might be slightly autarkic) within the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.

The concentrating movement went on all along the 20th century, but with an important alteration. The scope of was no longer the creation of wealth but became progressively (although the 1929 crisis) creation of value with the consequences we know now. Within the context, concentrating can call in the same time for savage cuttings, only to demonstrate with a clean balance sheet immediately.

Although a permanent question, outsourcing get constantly new answers depending on the general context in regards of the strategy of the company.

To decide outsourcing is not a simple and opportunist make-or-buy choice. To speak of outsourcing rather than make-or-buy implies that a complex and strategic relationship has been identified.

Logisticians are people that have been working since centuries both on information and real flows.

The success key factors for outsourcing com from the detailed analysis of the logical links between the skills involved in.
